Speech Event Guidelines and Glossary
Edina Speech Parents, this post is for you!
We've made up a packet of information that includes brief descriptions of each event, as well as a glossary of terms you might hear from your child throughout the season. This might also come in handy if you have interest in volunteering to judge at any of the tournaments. We are constantly in need of judges, and when you volunteer some of your time, it eases the cost to the team of hiring judges. Let us know if you are available!

SPEECH EVENT
The first speech event has been set! We would like to invite all team members, parents and coaches to attend the potluck!
This is a great time for families to get to know each other a bit more and for teammates to bond prior to our first meet. We are very grateful that the Aggarwal family has open their home to us.
The get together will be Friday, January 23rd. This is the night before our first tournament, Chanhassen. I hope that many of you will attend as it is important for us to bond as a team when we compete individually throughout the season. We will begin the festivities at 6:00 and enjoy a shared meal. Below is the address to their home:
Aggarwal Home
6405 Indian Hills Rd,
Edina, MN 55439
The following link is a sign up for the potluck. Please contribute so that all can enjoy!

Tournament Attire and Mock Meet
The Mock tournament is on Thursday, January 15th. This is a mandatory practice for all students on the team. You will need to be at EHS in tournament attire by 5:45 PM. This is so that we can start on time at 6:00PM and let out on time as well. The varsity members of the team will be giving feedback to the novice members. If time allows varsity will also perform with Coaches feedback.
If there are questions about tournament attire please first refer to the page on it to the right of the blog labeled Tournament Attire, then look to the handbook and finally if you still have questions please email us. We can find solutions but we will need time to do it and the day before a tournament just isn't enough time.
There will be a form going home on Monday that is a sign up for tournaments. When you and your parents initial the form that is your commitment to that tournament. We understand that things come up and if you let us know on MONDAY the week of the tournament we can usually drop the student from the tournament with no penalty. If it you let us know after the Monday before the tournament we have a fine to pay regardless if the student is there or not and some of that fine may be asked of the student. Please let us know if you have questions or concerns about the form or upcoming tournaments.
