Sept. 10th meeting
We met today and solidified events. Coaches will be meeting with returning members starting this week. If you aren't signed up for a time contact the speech account so that we get you added.
We will be having a table at the activities fair. If you are interested in helping with that please email the speech account.
Our next team meeting will be October 12th at 6:00 where we will be planning and preparing for the novice recruitment meeting. This is a student lead meeting and required of captains with returning members helping.

Gearing up for a Stand UP season!
We had a great time with the returning speech members last week. If you were unable to attend it isn't too late! Email the speech account at speech.edina@gmail.com and we will get you caught up!
Here is what you need to be doing to get ready for our next meeting!
* Watch recent national final rounds in events that you are interested in!
* Send reflections about what you liked or didn't like to the speech account.
*Our next meeting will be Sept. 10th at 3:30. This is Sunday NOT Saturday.
We will meet at 5028 W. 56th St. There will be POPCORN!
* Be ready to share out ideas. If you email early I will send piece ideas for you to look over and read.

LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES
If you are interested in applying for leadership please fill out and turn in electronically your application by Saturday, Sept. 9th.

They will be the go between on some information from coaches to team members.
They will lead captains practices and various workshops.
They will uphold the speech handbook and be role models to the whole team.

MSHSL 6AA Section Tournament

Important Notes:
All students will be timed during the this tournament. Please make sure you do one practice with timers so you aren't surprised Friday.
All scripted events must turn in on Thursday night to Elizabeth at practice or you will not be able to compete the following day. We have discussed what needs to be turned in at the workshop prior to spring break so there should not be any questions. ***If you turned in materials to the National Qualifier you will need to complete it again*** I have your sources that I will return to you on Monday.
Public Address Events:
Great Speeches - A clean printed copy of your piece that clearly states where speech was found. Remember you must state during your piece where you found and took your great speech from.
Info - A clean printed copy of your piece with bibliography in MLA on a separate sheet. Remember all visuals MUST have sources visual to the audience from their seats.
Oratory - A clean printed copy of your piece with bibliography in MLA on a separate sheet. You also need a word count of quoted material.
Interp Events:
HI, DI, DUO, PR - A clean printed off script. You also need photocopies of original pages used from your source. Then you must underline or highlight each word used in the script and place pages in order that they were used. If you replaced a word do to profanity you must cross it out and write in the word used. All transitional words added must also be written in where they are inserted.
Poetry -A clean printed off script. You also need photocopies of original pages used from your source.
