Eastview - February 20th

Star Tribune Lightning Speech Classic presented by the Eastview High School Speech Team. Our tournament will take place on Saturday, February 20, 2016, at Eastview High School and Valley Middle School of STEM in Apple Valley, MN.  All 13 MSHSL categories will be open to registration and we will allow NFL rules where applicable. We will also have POI (program oral interpretation) and we are a NIETOC bid tournament.  Like we have done for the past three years at our tournament, we will offer two divisions of competition: Open and Championship. Open division is for your less-experienced speakers (this is 9th-10th graders or first year in speech, not a new category) and Championship is geared towards your more experienced speakers (Juniors and Seniors).  This way, everyone will compete with competition at their level.  Students may not compete in different divisions.  Double Entries are welcome (even in discussion).  However, students are not allowed to double enter into two draw categories.   Each division will have a final round.  We also will have honorable mentions at the awards ceremonyfor those that just miss the final round.
To avoid less-than-desirable speaking rooms, we are going to be utilizing two buildings.  Valley Middle School of STEM in Apple Valley will house our Open division and Eastview High School will hold our Championship division.  However, BOTH DIVISIONS OF EXTEMP SPEAKING WILL TAKE PLACE AT EASTVIEW.

Team and Parent Meeting - February 16th

The Annual Team and Parent Meeting is scheduled!

This is an important meeting where reminders and information will be given regarding the rest of the season.  Please make this meeting a priority for your family.

It is almost time for our team/parent meeting.  The commitment form and other information indicated that the meeting would be in the community room on February 9th.  However, now there is a choir concert scheduled that same evening and I don't want to have so many conflicts.

The team/parent meeting is Tuesday, February 16th at 6:00  in room 333 (the Community Room)

This is a mandatory meeting for both teammates and parents.  We will talk about the team and how you can contribute, we will discuss team apparel,  the EFOF, and upcoming events within the season.

Lakeville South - February 13th

LAKEVILLE SOUTH HIGHSCHOOL
21135 Jacquard Ave, Lakeville, MN 55044

MESSAGE from the tournament:
You and your students are cordially invited to participate in the sixth annual Lakeville South Cougar Invitational Speech Tournament on Saturday, February 13th, 2016 at Lakeville South High School. We are very excited to offer a fun, competitive day of speech.  We will offer all 13 MSHSL events. As it is early in the season, we will be offering both varsity and novice finals. Team awards will also be given.
Format: Three rounds with finals
All students (varsity and novice) will compete together as one tournament.  Novice participants are eligible for varsity finals, but also for novice finals, which will be determined similarly to honors finals. There will be no honors finals, but honorable mentions will be awarded.

BUS
The bus will leave from DOOR 7 at 6:45 AM.  Please plan to be there 10 minutes early so that we can leave on time.  We hope to return home by 6:00PM.  REMINDER: if you wish to pick your child up at the tournament they must stay until the end of awards (unless it has been pre-approved by Elizabeth) and the student MUST have a signed note from the parents.  They will also not be able to leave with anyone other than their OWN parent.  This is a school policy.

FOOD
There will be concessions available for purchase at the tournament.  Please remember to bring water and additional snacks.  You may bring water into your rounds but no food please.
